Thanksgiving Day at the Grotto

Thanksgiving Day at the Grotto

If your idea of what to make for Thanksgiving is reservations, then think of the Grotto!

We have three ways to enjoy Thanksgiving at the Grotto.

We are serving our ala carte regular menu.   The regular menu will be slightly shortened but will feature all our favorites: Lasagnette, boar pasta, burrata, brussels sprouts, meatballs, fra diavolo etc.  Our Kid’s menu, named as one of the top 5 in DC by Tom Sietsema of the Washington Post will be available as well.

Let’s Talk Turkey: Modern turkeys are overly bred birds with flavorless breasts so large that the turkeys can barely walk.  They are perhaps one of the worst aspects of commercial poultry farming which is really saying something! We are serving Heritage Bronze birds raised in open areas on Amish farms in Pennsylvania.  This bird is a cross between the European breeds brought over by the colonists and wild turkeys found here in the US.  The meat is darker, moister and much more flavorful.  We spatchcock & dry brine the turkey three days, then roast them on Thanksgiving.  The result is the legs and breast meat cook evenly and a tasty moist bird is obtained.

So if you want to just have turkey, we have a Turkey & Trimmings platter that can be ordered ala carte featuring our Amish raised Heritage Bronze turkey, along with gravy, stuffing, cranberry sweet potato & green veggie.  On the other hand, if you want a full holiday spread, have our Family Feast for $49.

Our first reservation in the dining room is at 1 pm, last reservation is at 7.30 pm. You can reserve your table in the dining room via Open Table or by calling the restaurant.

Thanksgiving in the Grotto Bar

If you have 8 to 12 people, you can reserve the communal table in the Grotto.  Parties of 4 up to 6 can dine at the window table in the Grotto as well.  We will offer these tables at 1 or 1.30, 4 or 4.40 and 7 or 7.30.  We will also take reservations at the Grotto Bar at any time thru the day.  Andrew will be on hand to whip up creative holiday cocktails as well.

Grotto Bar reservations must be made by calling the restaurant ONLY.  Please do not use Open Table and make a Grott Bar request, as we cannot guarantee availability.
